As if to exonerate themselves of blame for whatever mayhem
that happen on Saturday, January 9, during the rescheduled bye-election
in Bayelsa state, the two major contending parties in the election, the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC)
have been accusing each other of plans to perpetrate violence.
The Bayelsa state chapter of the APC yesterday, January 7 warned Governor Seriake Dickson against putting his ambition ahead of the interest of the state, The Nation reports.
Tiwe Oruminighe, the party’s state chairman said Dickson had shown desperation, restlessness and excessive ambition in his quest to get a second term, without considering the interests of the people.
According to him, Dickson’s desperation was becoming too obvious.
Oruminighe said: “The governor is full of deceits. I want Bayelsans to know that the governor is the person who will be doing something but will be shouting to deceive the people about what he is doing.

“In the elections that took place in Ekeremor, Sagbama and Nembe,
which he claimed he won, were marred by violence. A minister’s house
was under fire, but the governor accused the minister. He did not talk
about the safety of the minister. The governor is inciting Bayelsans
against Bayelsans. He would call the chiefs and the people and incite
them.
